TIMIS flood is based upon state-of-the-art technologies

The TIMIS flood project employs the latest GIS, data acquisition, hydraulic and internet technologies. Digital terrain models form the basis for many of the products being compiled by the project. They are derived by the means of high-precision, aircraft-based laser scanning measurements.

As of 2008, TIMIS flood is making available cross-border information for around one hundred rivers and streams with an overall length of 3,200 kilometres:


hazard, risk, and intervention maps, a forecast and warning system, an internet-based service for flood informations (WebGIS), a print-on-demand service for internet-based printing of maps, an also internet-based visualisation tool for flood levels at gauge stations as well as products for experts.
