Showcase project for cross-border flood management …

With the TIMIS flood project, Luxembourg, France and Germany are establishing a basis for improved, cross-border flood protection. The main objectives of the project are to:

… and as a contribution to a uniform flood protection policy at EU level

TIMIS flood was launched in 2004 and is running up until 2008. The cost of the project is EUR 6.86 million, half of which is coming from the INTERREG IIIB North-West Europe programme [http://www.nweurope.org/]. TIMIS flood marks an important contribution towards a uniform EU flood protection policy and is designed to serve as a model for cross-border flood management in other regions. The TIMIS flood products are ultimately intended to help cut back on the damage caused by flooding and to heighten public awareness of the dangers of flooding in the area of interest for TIMIS flood. The partners participating in the TIMIS flood project are focussed on different target groups, extending from the population at large, via local authorities and emergency services, water management departments and regional development authorities, right through to research establishments and experts.
